TAKERU NOTO SERIES
Demon Slayer's hardcore action scenes really endeared the series to Americans in spite of Zenitsu being in the show and being a borderline Jar Jar in terms of fan reception.Takeru is a tall young man with straight, cheek-length brunette-colored hair and squinted eyes. The biggest thing I'm wondering is how the trend towards sillier shonen is affecting the American fanbase that traditionally preferred the "serious" aspects of shonen rather than the silliness. In the case of Jujutsu Kaisen, I think part of what might make that show hard to watch maybe just the dub's delivery of the comedy. The talking animals still wasn't the most inspired gag for the show and felt really out of place even for a show as silly as this.

I will say that Fire Force is funnier than Bleach on average and it arguably does comic relief better than some better regarded shows (Arthur is a way better comic relief than Zenitsu from Demon Slayer). Bleach was probably the closest pre-2015 shonen to maybe come close to the recent formula with 55% drama and 45% comedy (mostly Pesche and Donndachaka doing unfunny things to pad the runtime of episodes or unfunny comedic arguments). I'm wondering why the silliness to seriousness ratio is changing in shonen. I was shocked at this season's Jujutsu Kaisen, despite the horror aesthetic, seems like it's 80% comedic and 20% dramatic. Oddly, we are getting a really dark moment in the next arc of Fire Force based on what I've seen on Hulu, so darkness is still there to an extent. The big exception to this rule being the abnormally serious Attack on Titan. Nowadays, it feels like most shonen can't last 3 minutes without talking animals appearing or fart jokes. It's weird going back to a 90s shonen like Rurouni Kenshin and seeing whole episodes without comic relief (although the show did have plenty of humor). It seems like recent shonen are getting sillier and sillier.

Tonight: the fire force's task force arrives on the Chinese penisula and sets off through an unknown and inhospitable territory The research will be conducted outside Tokyo Empire on the Chinese Peninsula, and the seven member team board a paddle steamer bound for the Chinese mainland. Their objective is to investigate the Great Cataclysm of 250 years ago hoping to obtain insights into the Adolla Bursts and the Evangelist's motives in collecting the eight Pillars. Following discussion with the other companies, Obi announces that Shinra, Arthur, Tamaki and Victor will be part of a joint operation with Takeru Noto and Ogun Montgomery from other companies under the command of Purt Co Pan.
